Is there a way to test the ficm on a 2005 250 6.0 it was just in to get number 2 injector changed n the guy told me it might also be the ficm. How could I go about testing it?
So I just did the fuel filters, it started right up I ran it for about ten mins then shut it down and cleaned up. I came back to it about 15 mins later n it just cranks but does not run? Any ideas what this might be?
There is a no start checklist, also in the Tech Folder in the 6.0L forum.
As for air, even if the cap is tight on the lower filter, if the o-ring is compromised, it will draw air in. Remove the upper filter cap, have someone turn the key on but not crank. Be prepared to have them turn it back off quickly, because the upper filter should fill up and overflow fast. If it doesn't or you get bubbles you have a leak in the lower filter cap.
You should always use Motorcraft or Racor fuel and oil filters, always replace the o-rings and always lube the o-rings with clean motor oil before installing the caps. (Standard advice).
Ok so there was a drip on the fuel drain plug under the truck , I fixed and truck started up. After driving all day and turning it off and on it stopped running like it is starving for fuel? When I did the lower filter I got like a rusty looking sludge( just a few drops) out of the drain plug and there was a gritty like material on the round shaft the filter slides on to. I just paid $700 on Friday morning to some shop in pa to fix the same problem where I got stuck on the 4 th of july, now its doing the same thing, he told me it was injector # 2 it took him 3 weeks and now I have the truck back in long island but it still won't go. Could this be a fuel issue?
When you opened the drain plug (that's the water separator drain plug on the Fuel Conditioner Module) you should get a pretty steady flow of fuel for a minute or so. Are you saying all you got is a few drops of sludge?
If so, something in there is plugged up pretty badly.
no i got the flow of fuel but there was some sludge in it a few drops of rust coloerd stuff and the girtty stuff on the inside of where the filter goes.
Sounds like you might have gotten a bad tank of fuel. It's possible your filter is already clogged which only means it's doing it's job. I, too, would like to know what brand of fuel filters you're using. The Motorcraft/Racor/International filters have a white aquabloc membrane that keeps water out of your injectors, so hopefully that's what you're using. Did you pull the secondary fuel filter in the motor compartment to see how fast the fuel bowl fills?
I did the filters yesterday. The top fills up pretty quick, would the fuel pump work then not work again? I have a banks PDA in it and I am now getting a code for the fuel pump.
