OK Bro, Sometime you just gotta suck it up, quit lamenting and do something. The best way to get on your feet is to get off your duff. Quit this guy and find some other gainful employment. Be a man and do for yourself and don't worry about the pizza boss. If you have to wash cars at the local Ford dealership then do it. This could turn into a possible parts runner then counterman position. Work hard, keep a strong work ethic, be positive, don't call in sick if you aren't, and don't steal from the boss. Keep the faith and the Lord will guide your ways.
Well, if he wants to hire all family, wish him luck, shake his hand, and tell him that ain't flour the boys in the back are sniffin..
Then, walk away. Jobs are like busses, there'll be another one along in five minutes.
My Dad gave me some very good advice when i was younger. He told me never to quit a job under bad terms. Never burn bridges. Always do the best you are able. Never be afraid to advance.
I have found this advice very helpful in my working years. Although I have been tempted many times to quit when I was angry, I always waited until I cooled off. I have never had a problem finding a job, and have never been fired from one. When things got too bad, I would start lookin for another. My advice is to not report your boos to anyone. Find you a better job, even if you have to take a pay cut. Sometimes the benefits make up for the loss in pay. Also peace of mind means alot too.
Good luck with the situation, listen to those who care about you and dont be afraid of the future.....West
I know the sort of situation you are in, and I can empathize with your wanting to get your digs in on the guy, but from my own experience, I can tell you it is not worth it. I used to work part-time delivering appliances for a family-owned store. I worked hard doing the stuff that the owner did'nt want his kin to be doing, they all did'nt like me, and I really did'nt like them, but I needed the extra income, so I showed up everyday, on time, and did whatever they asked, which was everything from moving refridgerators to installing washers in filthy basements to taking the owner's pickup truck to be serviced. (It was a Ch**y, so I did that an awful lot.) I knew about his affair with the bookkeeper, his kid's habit of "borrowing" from the till (which he blamed me for a time or two), his problems with creditor's... stuff that really could have made a lot of trouble for him in small town America. But I just let it all ride, and when a better job came along, I gave him two weeks' notice, shook his hand, and told him that I hoped he had every success. Eventually, his wife found out about the affair, which led to divorces for both of them, his kid got arrested for bouncing checks, and his creditors repossessed pretty much his entire stock. So in the end, justice is always served to those sort... you just have to be the bigger man and let nature take its course.
I would agree with everyone here in stating that you shouldnt burn your bridges. You want to leave every job, with them wishing you hadnt left, not glad youre gone.
I can honestly say that i could walk into any place ive worked, and if they had a position theyd hire me back in a heartbeat. Some would create a position for me. I still get employee discounts in some of those places, and they ask if id think of coming back.
Dont bother reporting anything, it will all come out in the wash. Any business run that poorly, wont last long.
The military wouldnt be a bad thing to look into if youre interested. They offer sign on bonuses and the GI bill.
