Clearly I have been MIA for awhile.. There has been no more progress made on the truck. I was back in the garage last night looking at it with a buddy of mine. We're going gather on Monday nights and work on it. We are going to start by pullng the motor, yes it's still in there, and start taking it down to the block. Which brings me to my question.
Pull the motor with or without the tranny?? There is that giant crossmember in the way, so is it even possible to pull them together??
its not that i know of, the one thing i remember doing (pulling the motor out of an 01 F350 SD) was we had disconnected the tranny from the motor but because there was something inside both the motor and tranny that couldnt break we had lifted the tranny as we lifted the motor to keep them even till the motor just slides out. help any? lol
So MOnday nights have turned in to work night on the truck. Last week my buddy NOah and I were able to get the truck turned around and facing forward in the garage. I had it backed in for the gas tanks. We were able to unbolt the exhaust from the manifolds, and get out the pipe and muffler. I'll get some pics up tomorrow. This week we plan to drop the tranny and FINALLY pull that motor.
Made some more progress on the truck.. In prep for getting the motor pulled I drained the trans. which looked brand new inside. The fluid didn't smell burned and was still red even. Also drained the motor oil, no anti freeze mixed in to it, and it drained nicely! So I was pretty happy about that.
Here's some pics of what concerns me a little. Maybe this is normal IDK. I left the pic super big so you can see all the build up in there. Think this is worth rebuilding?
I finally had time to get back in to the garage last night and do some work. The big news is I got the motor out!!! I'll post up pics tonight hopefully. Hope everyone has been well.
WOW! thats the carb??? clean it up a little see if takes any of the gunk away. took my whole carb apart the other day too see what was wrong with it and for being a year old... it looks like i had just bought it off the shelf
Yeah the carb is pretty dirty. I am not sure what I am going to do about it. I am going to tear done the motor and she what kind of shape it's in before I do anything else. Deep down I am hoping it needs a complete rebuild and I can then do pretty much whatever I want.
