Dang, I'm glad my first two are free from the dealer. Although, after reading about the confusion some techs have on the volume required, I'm tempted to do it myself to make sure it's not overfilled. Epic's video makes it look easy enough.
Uh, $70 for Rotella T5, Ford Filter and 20 minutes of my time. Dumping 4 gal of oil at Wallyworld is an added annoyance..... Also did the fuel filters myself, $67 for the filters, 30 minutes of my time. EASY!!
Did they have the skull and cross bones flag flying above the dealership and addressed you as "Barnacle from the Hull" when you showed up?
They shivered me timbers when I asked my local dealer for the price for an oil change. Epic provided a good link for a company that specializes in diesel parts (Home - Diesel Filters,Additives, brake rotors, and brake pads for Chevy, Dodge and Ford Diesel Trucks). My first oil filter cost me $23.63 at the dealer. I paid $11.95 online for the same Motorcraft filter. That is a 50% markup. They should be an wearing eye patch and walking on a peg leg.
The fuel filter kit cost me $47.97, main air filter was $11.95 and the pre air filter was $12.97 online. Aaargh matey!
It's noted. Going back to doing it myself. Figured I would try to be lazy and paid dearly for it. It is my birthday so I did not want to get dirty LOL. Lesson learned.
