So a couple weekends ago, a local diesel performance shop in Calgary hosts an annual DYNO day. Where for a $50 donation to the Humane Society you can run your truck on the dyno. Man, I had no idea what I was going to learn by doing that. So my truck is stock with an AFE Stage 3 intake, got rid of that restrictive factory crap, and i'm all excited to see what it going to do to my truck. Last year I ran my truck on the dyno withthe factory intake and pulled 343 Hp and 648 lb-ft of torque. Hey ford wasn't lying. So i was all excited this year to see what this cold air intake did, so when my turn finally came. I was incredibly disappointed. Only 235 HP and 594 lb-ft of torque. The crowd went silent and all the mechanics looked at each other in worry. They looked at me and said my DPF is plugging or my injectors are going.
In disappointment I backed off the dyno, thankful (yeah for the first time ever) to see DRIVE TO CLEAN EXHAUST. I talked to the staff and they said I could take another run when I came back. So I went on a half hour drive loading the truck up as much as I could, then went back to the dyno. When they let me run, i was amazed 296 HP and 1082 lb-ft of torque.
Its amazing to think how much power your truck looses due to that stupid DPF. While my HP is not quite there anymore, which I think is due to the DPF starting to clog. My torque is impressive.
Just thought I would share this story with u guys, so u can see actual numbers on how much those DPF's degrade the trucks performance. All I can say is once my warranty is up, that thing is coming off.

Ford probably wasn't, but I'm willing to bet the dyno was. It's pretty standard to have ~30% less power at the rear wheels due to driveline loss. Now some dyno operators "correct" their numbers by adding in what they think the loss was, and I'm willing to bet that's where your 348 HP came from. It's a fictional number based on their best guess and what their dyno sees. It's also important to remember that not all dynos are the same, and that your truck will read differently between different dynos.

I don't think so. There shouldn't be nearly that much backpressure after regen to cause such a HP loss. If there were your truck would have a warning light on requiring you to change the DPF. How many miles are on it? My guess is that you have a long way to go.

Obvously that factory "crap" wasn't very restrictive. It does filter well, though. And protects your warranty in case your turbos end up getting dusted through improper filtration. But hey, what do all those factory engineers know...right?

Back in March I put my 450 on the dyno.... H&S deletes and 200 tune.... result uncorrected....
