What do you guys think of the new 2003 F-150's. was looking at a couple the other day, they are sure nice inside, not really like a truck anymore, lol. How do you think they would do off road? i dont see how the front suspension could flex like the ifs in the earlier years.
I am not sure what the payload and towing specs are, but the frame looks a lot tuffer on my 92 F-150 compared to the newer ones.
I haven't looked at them that closely, as they are currently way out of my price range. But I would assume as with all fords you can easily add about 3k pounds to the GVWR on the sticker.
Our older trucks do have more payload than the newer trucks, however the newer trucks have better towing capacities.
The newer torsion-bar IFS system is superior to the TTB IFS in the fact of ground clearance and ride. It's not as "tough" as the TTB was, but it also doesn't require the often alignments that the TTB did.
The 97-'03 F-150s are a love/hate relationship. I don't care for them as well as our generation trucks, but they have vastly improved some things. I hate the dash design in the 97-03 F-150s but these trucks are more roomy and the seats feel more cushy.
