Question Replacement Fuel Pump Options

I am fairly certain that my truck's front tank fuel pump has finally given out. What are the options or should I say best options for a replacement?

I would like a Motorcraft one, but can't see spending close to 500 dollars for it. Is there a better deal available on these?

The only other option I really see is the made in China Airtex which I keep hearing is complete junk.

Take a look over at Rockauto RockAuto Parts Catalog
for a replacement pump. I'm in the same boat as you and have been looking around for a good price, on a good pump. I'm thinking Motorcraft or Bosch, a chance they are made in China nowadays, but they may be OEM quality

I was thinking about Bosch too.

I did find this at Orielly. I wonder if a Motorcraft pump is really a Delphi. It says actual OE part.

Delphi Automotive FG0198 - Fuel Pump Module Assembly | O'Reilly Auto Parts

There is a better price on it from Advance Auto.

I did find a good deal on Amazon for Motorcraft pumps. Its still pricey buy not nearly as expensive as everyone else at 275. Part of the difference is that its not just the pump its the complete assembly.

The Motorcraft stuff is made in Mexico or Canada usually.

I have had a lot of problems with Delphi pumps.
I have had good luck with the Airtex pumps as they are the Ford OEM pumps or so I have been told.
I replaced four Delphi pumps in a row (no cost) before NAPA got me a Airtex pump and no more problems.
I have not heard of anybody on here having problems with Airtex pumps but some have said they would not hold pressure on another site.
I have also had a few (2) bad Carter pumps that would only last for about a year.

Something to consider, I thought my front pump died. It stopped priming at key-on, and you could never hear it run. Ive been running off the rear tank. Recently I replaced my positive battery terminal with a copper/brass one (my neg terminal was already new, and all my grounds are good). After changing it I decided to try the front pump and it worked, and has been working now for a few weeks.

I didn't think that it was all that likely that Delphi was OEM. Why does it say its the actual OEM part then? Hmm. I won't be getting one of these anyway.

My friend has Airtex pumps and says that every couple years the front or rear goes out. I think he has replaced each one at least twice if not more.

I think the best options are either Motorcraft or Bosch.

I do see these Spectra pumps that are the complete assembly not just the pump, but don't know anything about them.

Thats interesting. I would not think that would make such a difference. My battery cables are fairly new Motorcraft ones and in excellent shape, so I don't think that is my problem.

Maybe some Airtex pumps are made in China.
The last Airtex pump I bought says it was made in Mexico.
Airtex is an OE supplier and they have been selling pumps in the U.S. for over 75 years.
I do not think we have been getting pumps from China for 75 years.
I have never had any problems with them.

I never heard anything bad about Airtex either until the last few years or so. There is a good chance that they have only been made in China fairly recently.
