Seat Arm Rest (again)

OK, I've now managed to remove the bolt, that holds on the arm rest, on my driver's seat ('95 Bronco). I was attempting to install sheepskin seat covers (God forbid buying new leather!!), and I ran into another snag. There is a cable, inside going from the seat, to the arm rest. How can I remove, and re-attach the cable, to get a cleaner, smoother installation?

Thanks,

Ernie

It's probably like a '90, so here's what I had to do:

There's a treaded metal shaft on the end of the cable with a nut on it. It's down on the bottom of the seat near the right rear seat support bracket, inside the upholstery. Remove the nut and you should be able to slide the cable up and out by gently pulling on the armrest. You may have to remove a plastic clip guiding the cable - I don't know if '95s had that or not - it's also on the bottom of the seat, a couple of inches above the nut. Save all the pieces and remember how the cable was wrapped around the guide plate that goes around that big bolt you removed to get the armrest loose. The hardest part of armrests is putting it back on so that the cable goes through that guide correctly.

Thanks for the help. I'll be damned if I could get the cable out though. It gets stuck inside the seatback (that clip you mentioned???). Looks like this will take longer than I thought. May have to remove the seatback, to remove the cover. Definitely not very serviceable.

After re-reading your reply, it's not stuck on the plastic clip. Lord knows what it gets stuck on, though. CRAP!

Unzip the zipper that runs across the bottom of the seat back. When that is done, you should be able to run your hand up the cable to find out what is keeping it from coming out.

No zipper....plastic clip the entire width of the seat. I'm afraid it'll break if I'm not careful.

Have you got it out of the bottom part of the seat? If so, then there is probably a guide clip in the seat back that it is hanging on. Can you look up in there with a flashlight or something? A long enough screwdriver might be able to pop that clip loose.
