I had hoped this was the year I stipped the truck and had the full restoration done. Well due to other comittments its not going to happen (yet). Since my old box is falling apart I'm putting the southern one on along with the tailpan and Lund sunvisor to match the racerback. To have it all one colour I'm shooting it a matt black, sort of the retro rod look. Then I started thinking that it didn't look that bad and perhaps a nice set of flames in a gloss black would look good. In additon, just the outer 1/8 or 1/4 " of the flame ouline would have the flame colour; white, red, orange and yellow gradient brushed in. A sublte look but different.
Anyway, just letting this idea roll through my head and I thought I'd see what you folks thought and any ideas you have or comments. Thanks.
John.
i think that will look good .. i painted a truck white and made some flames with pearl in the clearcoat then sprayed straight clear over the whole truck .. they were very subtle in some light and in the sun they stood out. i like things like that .. makes people look twice. you have a good idea with the flat and gloss black, go for it.
