Using 87-91 frame and cab?

My '85 4x4 has cracks in the frame in several places, and a beat up cab/bed. The drivetrain is fine and all of my chassis components are fine or recently replaced. I have a chance to buy an '87 f150 2wd and a great body for $500. It runs and drives, also has a 302. I'd like to swap all of the '85's 4x4 running gear on to the '87, as well as the older front clip. I see a lot of posts on converting from 2wd to 4x4 in this forum and didn't know if it worked on the newer trucks as well. Is this a possibility?

Everything I've ever read or people I have talked to say it's pretty much as simple as unbolt the 2wd crap, and then bolt on the awesome 4wd crap. I've always wanted to do it. And hell, when you're done make your old 4x4 a 2wd and sell it cheap to make some money back. The older front clip will work. I've don't it to an 87-91 Bronco. You'll have to bend or chop off a cab mounted bracket on the bottom side of each fender that bolts to the cab. You don't have to swap cowls though, which is kinda cool.
