Hey fellas i have a 01 7.3 f-350 with 200,000. Heres my problem. The truck recently has been loosing power under load. example . I was towing my toy hauler up a long hill and almost half way up i lost power. It actually feels like the turbo cuts out. When i let off the pedal and let the rpms drop and hit the gas again the power comes back. When i drive it with no trailer or a lighter load no problems.. Any ideas what it could be
try posting in the 99 to 03 7,3 forum, you qill get better answers there.
did you have the fuel pedal recal done? my 02 was doing almost the same thing. i changed the fuel pedal and it has been fine since.
Im not an expert for sure and i am trying to learn more about diesels. But that sounds fuel realted to me. Seen that on gas engines a couple of times and even had the same thing on Mercury outboard motor. Fuel filter, pump, or a restriction of some type.
like i said, there was a recall on the fuel pedal. it would just die and go to idle. the only way to get going again was to let off, and then reapply the throttle.
Sounds like a fuel issue to me .Did it only do it on steep grades? Have you checked your fuel filter? The screens in the tank may be partially plugged also.
