White smoke...
I'm on leave from deployment and I get my pickup from my Sis and drive to my Dad's. On the way, up grades, I'm pushing normal boost/turbo response, but at around 150 miles into the trip one of the fans comes on hard trying to cool. No major issues at that point. When I get to the destination, my water temp indicator goes red, "check guages" light comes on then temp goes back to normal operating range.
Next day I check the coolant and I end up putting two gallons of coolant in to make up for lost coolant.
Drive it around the hometown for a day and no issues. This morning I start it up and it cranks hard. I start down the hill and I've got thick white smoke. I drive it back around the block, and every step of the pedal I'm pushing thick white smoke like a diesel on the track.
It's in the shop now for diagnostics. It's an 06 F250 6.0L. I had an injector go bad on me once before. Could the work then have cause a head gasket blowout?
It's had consistent servicing up until it has sat for 7 months at my sisters (she was supposed to get it serviced, didn't).
plugged oil cooler lead to the breakdown of the square egr cooler and if your lucky you didnt crack a head or blow a headgasket when the coolant went into the cylinders and overpressurized stuff
but sounds like it could hav head gasket problems since you had temp spikes that would go back to normal
start thinking about ARP headstuds and a BPD egr cooler
good luck with it
Its fairly simple to replace, the egr cooler, and oil cooler.
As blade said, still look into ARP's and a bullet proof EGR cooler...
It would scare me if I saw my temp gauge go up that high.
