what tex said. i run my pump almost full blast and i use the regulator to adjust the pressure. its hard when you have to regulators trying to reg. a system
You have to run the pressure on the regulated return just a few psi below the air dog. That way the air dog will still have a return on it and not work the pump to death.
Gotcha! What exactly is the regulated return doing? I'm not very savvy on that type of stuff.
The rr takes out the dead head system. On a stock truck the fuel is regulated at the filter housing. There are plugs in the back of the head. So fuel deadheads there. When you have bigger injectors the back ones end up getting starved for fuel. The rr does away with the factory regulator and let's fuel flow through the head out the back and is regulated after that. That way you have the same fuel all the way through the head. My fass runs at 60 psi and I have my rr set at 58.

I gotcha. So does the airdog bypass the factory fuel system all together?
no it ties into where the factory fuel pump was at. So you will still have the factory system from the fuel lines at the pump and up.
Ok, so I've been trying to do some research on these systems and figure out what's what. I can't figure out the different between the Airdog and the Airdog II and the Fass systems. Do any of the replace the HCFM? Which do you recommend?
the airdog 2 bypasses the factory pump and then ties into the factory line after the pump. the regular airdog doesnt bypass the factory pump it just helps it. i have no idea about FASS being that i run airdog
The FASS system will bypass the factory pump as well. Basicly the FASS is the same system as the Airdog II. Whitch one you use is a personal perference. I like the FASS, but have no problem with the Airdog. Also, just to trow in another point. With either system you go with there is issues with running out of fuel when you go below 1/4 tank. I use a fuel sump to keep from having this problem, but I generly don't let my tank get that low.
yea i use a sump also. if i had to do it again i would just put a bigger draw straw in because i dont like the sump sticking down below my skid plate im afraid im gonna rip it out of there

How do you add a longer draw straw ?
I have a cab and chassis and it would be a major PITA to drop my tank.
When I put my Airdog II in I could get to everything from the top fairly easy.
