Fluid Questions
Alright guys, need some advice on what fluids to run in:
1: The original straight-cut 4 speed.
2: The rear diff.
I'm doing a fluid change, already done engine oil, new brakes, about to do radiator flush and then I'll jump onto the trans and rear diff.
Thanks guys!

I used 90 weight gear oil. I'm sure somebody will jump on here and give you better advice, but I'm pretty sure the shop manual mentions 90 weight oil.

Alright, sounds good. Any idea how much I need of each? I don't have a manual or anything so it's all coming from online but it's hard to research.

I use 90w with a little bit of Lucas oil stabilizer mixed in. The lucas bonds to the innards and protects the metal. That's my .02. I put the rest of the lucas in the motor.

If you get yourself a gallon of 80-90 W that comes with the pump,to start, you can go grab another couple quarts if you need more.

I checked my Ford Service Manual for 49-50 Cars and Trucks May 1, 1951
Page 11 Transmission "S.A.E. 140 in summer and S.A.E. 90 winter. Trucks with remote control shift mechanism, use S.A.E. 90 in summer and S.A.E. 80 in winter."
Page 10 Rear End "F1 useS.A.E. 90"
Hope this helps.
