Ranger

1 The damn truck costs too much. $18k for for a 4cyl stick??
2 Does not come in a long wheel base model anymore, took themselves out of the construction business.
3 Fuel mileage sucks in the US version(3L Turbo Diesel available, just not here).
4 Peanut crunchers think the body style has to change every other year.
5 Manufacturers think that a TRUCK has to be made with power every*****thing and refuse to build a work truck anymore. (no stick shift in the F 150)
You can get the Ranger everywhere but NA with a healthy turbo Diesel, sorry for the morons it only comes with a stick shift, four full doors and a long bed like it should.
The reason a Truck cost 3 times what it should is all the *****'s out there that think they have to have all the damn gadgets to play with while not paying attention to where they are going and what they are supposed to be doing. Fleet buyers are not going for that ****, they just go somewhere else.
Now a short bed truck should cost 3 times as much as a LONG BED truck does, due to the fact that a short bed truck is a toy, if I had my way that is exactly what would happen..like it or not.

1. What does a comparable truck cost from the other brands?

2. Has Ford stopped making the extended cap (long wheelbase truck)?

3. My 4wd extended cab 3L with the automatic can get 23 mpg on highway trips.

4. The truck market is nothing like it was 30 years ago. Face lifts are as common on Ford trucks as they might be on Toyota Camrys.

5. You might have to look hard, but I'm sure that bare bones trucks are still out there. You are talking about a truck that you can clean the interior with a garden hose, right?

6. That diesel would be a cool option. They love them down in South America.

Don't expect Ford to do any recent improvments to a truck they plan to stop making. Any word on that F-100 or was that shelved too?

Well I was just venting my frustration at the Ranger being dropped.
Yes you can find a striped truck if you look hard enough, but they are too expensive for a striped truck. You can get a Chevy or Dodge full size striped truck for less than a Ranger.
This is all due as with full size trucks as well, that the striped truck cost so much due to the fact that they have to be that way so they can offset the costs of the loaded up versions.
Take that stupid Sport Track for Example, bed big enough for a loaf of bread and that's it, built on a cab that was purposely designed so you could not change the bed and have it look right, which by the way is not the same cab as on the other Ranger 4doors built for non US consumption.

Just look at how much the F 250-350 Diesels were selling for 2 years ago and what they are selling for today. Those people who paid that premium price can't give them away today. And Ford has not built a Diesel worth having since the demise of the 7.3 Powerstroke, the newer engines are JUNK!
As far as fuel mileage goes I have had many Rangers and got the best out of my 90 xlt with a 2.3 5 spd long bed regular cab at 26 27 mpg at 70 mph. Have a 93 Splash 2.3 5 spd that only gets 18-20 mpg,and w 3.73 rear gear that is to be expected, a 2002 w 4.0 auto long bed that only gets 21-22 mpg hwy. Have a 200 F 150 4.2 5spd long wheel base work truck w 268k that gets 19 - 21 on the hiway, I also have a 1984 F 150 5.0 4 bbl 5 spd that gets 22 in town and 26 to 28 on the hiway, They dropped that engine as well for one that got worse fuel mileage, so go figure.
There are 10 Ford dealers within 100 miles of me and there is not a Long Wheel Base Truck on any of their lots.

I'm sure if everyone keeps making threads like this and continuously whines and cries they will surely bring it back

Get over it, buy a used one that fits your needs, or quit talking about it

I hope you did not vote for Obama and the Dems because they are why you can't have that diesel.........or the ford fiesta diesel that gets about 80 mpg's
