Walk outside and measure them. If memory serves me correct the small lights are 4 lights system and the large are 2 light system. I would measure to be safe though.

once again im back with more questions,,
how much power does the alternater put out? i know they vary but im just looking for a ballpark guess.
and would the rear window from a 73-79 fit in the 71? id be nice if i could get a slider in there.
and i found a 70 and a 68 in the naborhood so the headlights are 7" and now i can look at a truck to answer some of my ????'s

ok,, now that i know alot more about this i can ask a better question..
does the 351C share the same size exhaust as other sbf. or the 400M? or is each engine different?
once again im back on the header trail. i thought the long tubes would fit easily. but i saw the engine bay again and looked closely and now im not sure if the engine mounts will interfere or not.
thanks again guys

Yes, dentside rear sliders are taller.
On HP specs, the OEMs changed how engine HP was rated...net vs gross. IIRC, it was in the early 70s. That will likely explain the difference btwn what you found vs what was posted by the number dood.

As for exhaust, 300-350 hp, Dual 2.25" or 2.5" with an H and Hush Thrush Super Turbos should sound decent.
Now, about the "amazing milage" as the truck sits... all the mods unless properly done will probably wind up costing in that department. An HO swap or even a 96-98 Explorer 5.0L (Better heads and the cam is better in a heavy vehicle) would be a far better idea then the Cleavland as was said earlier.
Gear Vendors OD? Take a look into a built AOD or E4OD instead if you want a cheaper option, there is a good electronic controller available for the E4OD as well.
