Zoiks! That's some nasty rust. And in a really bad place, too. I would think somewhere in CA near you, you should be able to find a better cab for a lot less money and time involved than fixing that one. If that one is that bad there, it's got to be nasty in other hard to fix places, as well. A $500 parts truck will do you a huge favor.
After the roof you are probably looking at cab corners, cowel, windows, and alot of hidden rust, im not the most qualified person to give advice but if it were mine id look for another cab. Good luck
WOW I think that will leak in a bad rain. I think i would look for a donor cab or maybe you could chop it. I don't know about that year truck but i saw a fiberglass top for a 53 maybe they make one for your truck. There is a place in fl. that sales fiberglass cabs.I will try to find the site and post it.
Wow. I have fixed rust up there on the 56 Fords but that is junk. It could be fixed, but welding down in that drip channel is one nasty mother. If you've got the time and want to play, there will be some work there. Me? I would hold off and look around for either a better cab or a whole roof section down to midway thru the windows.
Just checked out your gallery and it looks like you may have picked up your parts truck first. I'd wait until you found yourself a better cab. Don't get too discouraged as there is still lots of survivers out there.
Looks like I will start to look for a new cab today.
With the rusted out Step sills and now this, it looks like I will be
searching for a new cab.
I need to buy just a cab, as I am a sucker for buying a parts machines
and winding up rebuilding it too, and then I have two almost done items.
Found this out collecting Antique Outboard Motors started with one old one
picked up two parts motors, now I have 107 pre 1960 outboards, with 92 runners. When I get the truck running I am going to buy a boat.

Remember you can use a '57 - '60 cab. That way you can still use the front end off of the '60. If you like the look of the big back window, now is the time to try and find one.
When you check out the cabs, first look at a LMC catalog for available replacement panels then check that cab to make sure you do not need any of them. I now have 2 complete trucks, because it was cheaper than buying all the replacement panels on my first one.
If you need help I can even help keep an eye out for cabs in AZ or NV. A few guys in NV actually helped me locate my latest cab.
dain time to call terminix as those metal termites are obviously quite proliferate in your area !!!! hades if you were gonna buy something that bad we got better ones here in the rust belt !! seriously that thing looks as bad as the 56 f600 i bought for some parts for my one ton several years ago and it had been sitting ina farm field for many moons . find another one you'll be happier if you do !!!!!
