Aussie's pre-build thread!
As a lot of you know, I've been the (sometimes) proud owner of a shortbox 77 F100 4x4 reg cab styleside a while now and have been slowly chipping away at it to make it my dream truck, I'd like to think its nearly there.
(check out my gallery for a look)
Its been on the cards now to do a cab swap and a 6" lift as well as a few other bits and pieces.
One of my main things that has me thinking, is should I do it all in one big build or what?
I just got all the parts to do my lift and i'm seriously thinking about bolting that on in the near future. On the other hand, my cab is just about shot, I would say possibly to the point of being hazardous. The worst of the rust is in the underside of the drip rails, the top of the firewall under the plenum and also where the rear bulkhead meets the floor, just behind the seat... And thats only what I seen so far.
I have priced up a cab, which I just have to go have a look at and i've got a few hints from folks here for the cab swap.
If I am to take it off the road for a strip down (after I finish my 81 bronco), the list will be as follows:
Cab swap
New paint (sebring orange 2pack with a black stripe filling the dent)
6" rough country/superlift kit
Driveshafts lenghthened to suit.
37" maxxis trepadors
165 litre LPG tank
Bucket seats, custom console.
Custom fabbed tailgate with spare carrier.
It shouldnt really take too long as I have most of the parts ready to rock and roll.
Part of me wants to do it bit by bit and keep driving it but commonsense tells me to park her up and do the whole lot.
Feel free to throw in some ideas
