Quick Release Fittings
Anotherwards, if the fitting appeared to be connected but wasn't, would that block the ATF flow? I'm not sure if this is even possible.
Just got my Escape back Friday from the dealer on a ATF leak. It's got a new leak worse than it went in for and "appears" to be wet under the cooler line connections on the splash shield which it's dripping from underneath.
I just was wonder if this could be blocking ATF flow also? It was just driven home only three miles or so and none since. Going back tomorrow.
Then again, if it wasn't connected, it shouldn't leak, providing it caps the line when disconnected.
I went back and let them know how displeased I was. The car had ~3k on it, and was pristine, and now was coated with oil. They cleaned it up and 'detailed' under the hood.
I still to this day am awed at the total obliviousness of the tech.
So, I'd bet you may have a buncha oil on the lower engine bay air deflectors that will drip for days... They should remove it and clean it up.

I did read up a bit and those fittings can come with a check valve on both M/F fittings, one or none.
He said that it wasn't the cooler line leaking but a tiny plug. Wish I would have asked just where it was located as the manual doesn't mention any small drain plugs. Could be something not mentioned in the manual, I guess.
Or did he say it was on the cooler????
