Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel 5W-40 Synthetic on Sale

Just a heads up for anyone who uses it, but my local O'reilly's has Mobil 1 5W-40 synthetic on sale for $19 a gallon. I might try it next oil change since its a few dollars cheaper than T6

I thought 15w-40 was the preferred weight? Is that on sale too?

I had completely given up on Checker/O'Reillys, after they raised their oil prices years ago and stopped all rebates. Those are good prices!

You can buy Shaefers for around 4.79 a quart if you buy a case at a time. It comes in 6 one gallon containers and its 15-40 syn. also.

I bought the Motorcraft Full Synthetic 5/40 It was about $33 for a 5 qt "gallon" jug. (4 jugs) Sometimes its hard to figure out if a $10 gallon vs $30 gallon is worth it. Like what do they put in it that makes its value $30/gallon. I know all about viscosity, weight, bla bla bla, but what is hard to understand is when someone claims they put magic moon dust in their oil. Exactly how does that make it better than oil without magic moon dust, and what does it really do for you.

Oil prices have jumped up here too so 19.00 a gallon is a good price for syn so jump on it. The Schaeffers 7000 15-40 syn blend is what I was using until a major price jump priced me out. Went from 87.00 for a 5 gallon pail to 119.00, What a shame, great oil and my truck loved it.

It depends on how you use the truck in the winter. A lot of trucks act different on cold starts in the winter. I think it can vary from any kind of mechanical problems to pcm calibrations that can cause problems. Personally I don't use my truck much in the winter that much and have a hard time paying the price for a syn. oil. They do help it start better and seem to cure the romps for some. Just my .02 cents..

ive changed the oil in my truck 85 - 90 times the i used standard 15/40 reg oil for 257000 miles huge difference in how burnt and used up the oil got at 3000mi than the syn 5/50 at 5000 miles im sold now do the math its worth it roughly a dollar or so more a quart on sale and i think you could go 6-7 k with no problem. the quicker to the bearing and better starts are a bonus.sold me and i fought it for a long time this is the first time ive bought syn oil since ive been buying it since the late seventies!

Your truck will run fine on a 5w-40 or a 15w-40...they are both a 40 weight at operating temp. The big advantage to a 5w-40 is cold start...other than that it is not really worth it to me.

I will most likely only run a 5w-40 in the winter.
