1998 Expy wiring for trailer
My 1998 Expedition does not have the tow package. Under the back bumber there is a flat 4 wiring harness for a trailer. However, the flat 4 only allows for the hook up of the trailer lights. I have a 12volt battery on my trailer that I would like to charge while the Expedition is running so I need a round 6 trailer harness on my truck. I was planing on running a wire from the battery to the back of the Expediton but that proved to be a pain. It was to much of a hassle trying to get a wire through the firewall. I got under my Expy in the rear to check out the factory wiring to the flat 4 harness. I noticed that there were two "plugs/connector", One connector had I think 4 wires and this was plugged into an adapter that ran to the flat 4 trailer plug. But then I noticed another plug next to it that was not plugged into anything. There are two wires going into this plug. A solid orange wire and a solid blue wire. Could some one tell me what this plug is for? Could the blue wire be for electric brakes and the orange be a hot wire that I could connect to the power wire of my round 6 wiring harness?
