Could not take it any more traded my no good 2010 lariat cab 4x4 5.4 off. Traded for a 2011 FX4 5.0 trans shifts fine unlike the 2010. I did drive this one before I traded. Had the 2010 for 9 months had it in the shop 10 time over the transmission not counting the key less entry being bad, driver side visor, leaking shock. leather seat cover replaced and not forget about the sync. Then have Ford field engineer tell you the harsh downshift from second to first is normal. I thank that this truck was built from leftover part that had been dropped and rolled into the conner and found later. On a good note the 2011 FX4 doing good.
It cost me $3,900 but will worth it. Where I traded the truck they had it originally. They traded to another dealer then that dealer traded to the dealer I purchased it from. I would assume the first trade that person new something was wrong with it and that why he did not take it.Then 1-800 STUPID ME stepped up.The sticker price was only 95 dollars between the two trucks. To bad that truck could not be re saleable just hate the fact that someone else will buy it.

Maybe the " someone else" won't be so picky Good luck with the new one, at least you stayed with Ford!
Yes i know its a truck. But when it down shifts and shake the front of the truck that a problem in my books. I'm not saying it does it all the time but when it did, it was harsh.Normal would be it does it all the time.To think that ford does not produce on occasion a bad truck it just silly. I just happen to get one of them. A List of my good trucks would be 1977,1997,2003 wreaked, 2004, and not the 2010 witch is debatable on here. And yes there was a span that I owned the Chevy and Dodge. And they have there problems as will.
You Are not the only one My situation was even worse 2010 expedition already had trans replaced. I cant afford to dump it. Lemon law filed now I wait. The whole situation makes me sick. Oh yea , don't listen to some of the people on here- I think some work for Ford with some of the unsympathetic comments. I completely understand why you dumped it. Ford could care less!
I was lucky to be able to trade this off. This new truck shifts as it should. I Am sure the field engineer's hands are tied to some degree by Ford. Was my truck to the point that Ford should have bought it back I think not. But on the other hand I did pay over 40 thousand for the truck and they do claim how good they ride so yes they should be a TRUCK/CADILLAC.HAHA. All joking aside at over 40 thousand these truck should perform flawless

Happy to hear of your new 2011. I hope that the trans doesn't let you down. On a less serious note, if you wanted a caddy, why not go put your money down on that horrible looking Escalade EXT?
I've been toying with the idea of trading my truck within the next couple years for an older truck (I like mudding a little too much and feel like it's not smart to beat on my new one).
Is it possible to do this without getting totally screwed? OP said he lost out by about four grand....is that a best case scenario?
Yes you will loose money when you trade. I don't think it matters what you trade in either. These dealer are in it for a profit it just what your comfortable with giving.I my have gave to much but I was happy with the trade and I thank that's all that matters. Selling out right would be the best way. But in my case I didn't wont to sell it to anyone.

In all honesty, you'd probably be better off keeping the new F150 and getting a dedicated "mudder" or "beater". The $4,000 you might take in a potential hit, could easily buy you a mid 80's Chebby or Ford, reg cab, already on 35s or 37s. A mudder should be gutted anyway.
Just my $.02
