Pulled both vc's and checked all wiring and connections. No chafed wires and connections were were good.
I decided to ohm the passenger side again. All ohmed out ok. I could see quite a bit better this time. I may not have been on the right pin the first time.
With the vc's off I wanted to observe the oil flow through the injectors. Engine wouldn't start. Drained and pulled fuel filter.fuel filter was clean. Re installed filter and lid.
Turned on key and could not here pump running and had no fuel flow.
I think I may have made a mountain out of a mole hill on this problem.
Dan and Chris may be right. It may be a fuel issue. I checked voltage to the fuel pump, with the key on and cannot hear the pump running and have no voltage at the pump.
What no. is the fuel pump fuse? is it fuse *19. My owners manual is not real clear on this.
I think my problem now is I have no power to the fuel pump. Checked the safety switch behind the kick panel. Don't think it has tripped. The reset button was still in the down position.
Can anyone tell me the number of the fuel pump fuse?
You only have about 20 seconds to check for power at the fuel pump. Get someone to turn the key on while checking across the terminals. Also check between frame and hot post to rule out a bad ground.
If you're suspecting the passenger side I would start it up and unplug it while its running rough and see if unplugging it makes a difference. It would help you narrow it down a little

Grant, you are right. I know that.Had my head up my a#s. I will check it, with help, this morning.

The issue now is it wont start. Are you talking about unplugging the UVCH harness?
Did you rule out a fuel issue?
You could always pull the fuel filter out and turn the key on, if fuel comes pouring out the fp has juice and is pumping, if not than you know its fuel related.

Yes it did turn out to be fuel related (as a few of you suggested).Pump was shot. Replaced with new one and she fired right up. Now I know all my injectors are working by observing the oil discharge.
Oh well not all is lost. I will torque the injector and rocker arm bolts before I button it back up.
Yesterday I received my IC and plenum boots and inserts from Clay. While I am wrenching I might as well install my 6.0 IC and trans. cooler along with the new boots.
I hope the pump was your problem...but thought I would ask. What was your fuel tank level when it went out? Was it at or below 1/4? Did you put fuel in the tank prior to firing it up with the new pump?
The reason I ask, is that if your Fuel Tank Pickup Foot broke and you put more fuel in prior to firing it up with the new pump installed, then you might have this other problem and not know it yet. If you get your fuel tank low enough to start sucking air again, your truck will die. This happened to me, and Mueckster and I were surprised the foot had broken (when we dropped the tank to do the Hutch mod). But apparently, this is a bit more common problem than we thought, as I noticed Diesel O-Rings' site sells the foot for this very reason.
I hope your problem is solved...but thought I would put this comment in here in case a future reader has symptoms that might be related to this other cause.
