I haven't seen those style FR covers for the FE in years. The only FE cover with Ford Racing now on it is the stamped steel covers part# M-6582-A427. Too bad as they still make them for every other engine family. They are nice looking covers.
You also see "Le Mans" on the valve covers--Ford won the 24 hour Le Mans race and a bunch of others in the mid 1960s. Ford mounted an epic battle against Ferrari, and the 427--already working & winning in NASCAR and the Cobra, was called upon after the early 289s were found to be coming up just a bit short.
The 427 FE is recognized as a legend.
Since the valve covers fit all the FE's, people with low compression gas hog sloggers as well as respectably built FE's of all sizes can bask in the glory of the "Cobra" and "Le Mans" legends. Enjoy.
