Can you say.....lawsuit! Glad everyone is alright. WOW. Years ago I was driving in NC at night and came over a hill to find a couple standing on the side of the road with a few other vehicles and their Chevy 1500 in a ball of fire. Truck was brand new and they owned it for one day. Just a crazy site to see. Everyone was alright in that incident as well.
Interesting, glad the guy is OK. That dealer needs a serious wake up call.
From the description it sounds more like a gasoline fire than Diesel. I've never seen a Diesel 'ball of fire', but have seen a few gasoline fires start that way! Gasoline fumes are very flammable and the flame front propogates quickly.
Anyway, if it was a PSD, someone better tell the V-10 boys so they can gloat even more, if that's possible.
Wonder what happens in a case like mine, where the oem tank is replaced with an aftermarket unit.....scary......67 gals of diesel, it probably would burn to the ground, and, no one (Insurance, Ford or dealer) to pay for it.
I'm sure they'll figure out what happened here. At this point it coul be anything. Guys like that dude are whats wrong with the legal system. He's an opportunist looking for his cut of the pie. His statements are exaggerated and he's jumping to conclusions.
While i feel bad for any vehicle that burns to the ground, as we all know it does not take much diesel fuel to be smelled inside the vehicle long before ignition.Definitly odd and rare in any case.
I responded to this thread over there earlier today. It is sad about the truck but the whole story has not been told. The owner will get paid by someones insurance and they will go looking for someone to sue to get their money back.
I had to remove the video, the shameless plugging for a class action lawsuit makes an otherwise interesting video inappropriate for FTE. It's against the guidelines to discuss legal actions here on FTE.
