Start button on starter solenoid

I need to bump my engine to get tdc. Can I just jump the battery cable to the starter cable on the solenoid w/o damage to any of the electronics?

Thanks,
wm

You can pickup a cheap one at any auto parts store for about $10. Money well spent.

Thanks to both of you. I already have an old Snapon remote starter from the 70s that I can use to bump the starter. Guess its okay then to use the terminal on the solenoid and jump it direct to the battery.

Personally, I prefer the control of hand turning the crank with a breaker bar and socket on the harmonic balancer bolt. 24 mm, I believe....
