Locking Hubs

Ok i have esof and like most i have the vaccum leak. The only way my 4x4 will work is if i get out and lock the hubs in. Recently I locked them in to back up a muddy hill. After getting out i got on solid ground and unlocked the hubs and took it out of 4x4. I drove forward 20 or 30 feet then in reverse 20 or 30 feet. I then went on my way down the dirt road 1/4mi. Reached the pavement and got up to 25 or 30mph and the truck was shaking and vibrating bad. I pulled over and tried to free spin the axel shaft at the hub and the driver side was still locked after i unlocked it. After waiting 30 min it finally unlocked and all was good. They have been getting really really hard to turn latley and this one seems like it takes for ever to unlock. I did the guzzle locking hub service twice already and still the same results.

Im looking into getting the warn locking hubs from clay. Im wondering which to get as he has 2 kinds. The "Warn Standard Manual Hub Kit" for $199 which is chrome and black or the "Warn Premium Hub Set" for $220 which is chrome and gold. Which do i go with?

I have the premium Warns and love them. The main difference between the standard and the premium is the dial on the standards are hard plastic (very durable too) and the premiums are metal. Both are very good hubs. I've had them on many different vehicles over the years without any of them failing.

i vote for the premiums as well been using them for many years on old broncos. although usually a sticking hub can be removed cleaned and re lubed.

I built and have a 1990 jeep wrangler with a 5.2 dodge magnum engine and 79 ford D60 axles with 35 spline chromoly shafts and Detroit lockers with 4.56 gears. I have had both types of hubs. I prefer the premiums they hold up better for me. If I remember correctly the standard ones have a plastic center and the premiums have a cast center.
