Starting Problems On an 1982
55K original miles, 460, runs perfect, drives fantastic.
Ok, the problem, when using the key to crank the engine it cranks fine BUT wont fire the ignition, UNTIL you back off the key returning it to the 'on' position.
Needless to say, this is a hit or miss proposition, it may catch and fire once out a 100 cranks, cranking the engine for longer or shorter makes no difference. It is like it only starts at that last millimeter of key movement.
Obviously, I assumed this was either a bad ign switch or it was in a bad position. I tried repositioning the switch first, then I replaced the switch on the column, not the key switch, and the condition persists.
Any thoughts?
