eats fuel!
I have a 92 F150 I6 that guzzles gas. I only get 160 miles with my rear tank, I have no idea what size it is but I assume its 18 gallon. The engine light doesn't come on and there are no codes. I'm assuming that it has something to do with my exhaust. The exhaust pipe has rusted off from the back of the truck up to the muffler. The truck is very nosey like the muffler isn't doing anything. Could the cat be clogged and causing to much backpressure? how can I open up the cat? This is a work truck with 177K miles so I'm not into putting a new exhaust system on it, just need a cheap fix. also my front tank doesn't work so I depend on the rear tank.

do you have strict emissions laws and checks? if you don't then cut the cats out, run a straight pipe, put a cheap 30 dollar muffler on it and exit it out the side. if you can do the work yourself your looking at probably less that 50 bucks. that would pay for itself in no time with the gas you would save, assuming that is your problem. also maybe you have a fuel leak?
