I have a friend with a 97 E350 (460ci) 21' RV. The previous owner messed with the air pump/hose to the cat and I think it's all junk.
I wonder wha the effect would be of removing the pump and cat altogether. It's not subject to emmissions but wonder what the computer will do , i.e. setting codes etc.
I will let you know soon enough. I deleted the EGR and the AIR pump stuff. Also not running CAT's.
I don't remember the sizes, but they are NPT pipe plugs that plug the AIR injection port and EGR on the driver side. The passenger side just requires a slight drill out, and a bit smaller of a pipe plug. But this is on a '97 F250, so I'm not sure if it crosses over to the RV or not. (i thought the RV was carb'd)
Anyways, hope this helps. I will post up my results soon.
I did delete all this stuff on a friends '98 Explorer 5.0 and haven't had any problems, even running a B303 cam; for what it's worth.
Yeah the air pump does go to the CAT's now that I think about it. It had already been deleted from my truck when I got it. I think the pump pushes air into the heads, and also into the cats.
Either way, it was a TON of stuff out of the way. If you don't have to worry about emissions, and don't care about maybe having an engine light, then take that crap off there.
