Well, it's been a week and the truck is starting well now. I still don't think that my GP's are working right but that is another maintenance item. I have a new set of Motorcraft ZD9's coming this week. Got them on ebay for $4.00 each. Put new connectors on the GP wiring this morning and if it still doesn't work well will built a new harness for them once the new ones are in.
As far as it goes, I installed an electric fuel pump in line with the mechnical and powered from the positive side of the GPR. It shuts off after 2 min. or less, however long the GPR stays closed. No problems after nearly 4 years.
You can do the electric pump but make sure you bypass the old one so you don't fill the crankcase with fuel. Pull it out and get a block off plate for a small block chevy and it will plug the hole nicely.
Or simply leave it in and use it for a vacuum pump. I used my EP as an aux pump between the Mech Pump and the filter. I use it only when necassary. Once I get my Hydroboost installed, that's what I plan on doing when my vacuum pump goes bad.
WooHoo!! No more starting problems now. I replaced all GP's last Saturday with Beru's. Now it starts up almost instantly. This is great. Thanks everyone for all the advice. Last thing to do is replace the cold start sensor which is bad. I will have that switch today and I am in great shape.
