Hey
i recently purchased a 79 Bronco Ranger with a 400, and i am having issues with the fuel pump. after the trucks runs for about 20 i am no longer getting any fuel to the carb. disconnect the fuel line from the carb and crank over the starrter for about 2-4 seconds and am getting no fuel. Also when the truck first is started th eoil pressure is right the normal raange and again as the truck runs and even if a drive iut around the block the oil pressure drops to below the "L" on the gauge. The truck was sitting for a while with almost no gas in the tank so I am wondering if I ought to replace or flush the gas tank before investing in a new fuel pump.
any help with these issues would be awesome!
I was just looking online at prices online through napa, and they dont seem bad at all to replace. do you have any suggestions about what could the issue with the oil pressure problem? was sure if it could the oil pressure sending unit?
Indeed the sending unit is a possibility. If you want a more accurate indication of true oil pressure, get a mechanical gauge and install it in place of the electronic sending unit. you don't even need to mount the gauge right away if you are just looking ot verify what the pressure is really doing. However, having the mechanical gauge somewhere in the truck never hurts. Its inexpensive peace-of-mind especially if you are concerned that there might be a problem.
