Where should I start?

Lie o meter doesn't even come on. Idk if it is only fuel mileage on there or if it is compass, distance to tank empty, etc.. Would like to get it working either way. Anyone have this issue? If so was it worth tracking down. I have an 05 Excursion xlt if that makes much difference.

I would start by reseating the connector that goes to the overhead module.

A bad connection on the +12v or ground going to the module would cause this.

If the schematic for the 2005 is the same as mine (2002), then +12V is on pin 7 and ground on pin 1.

If the module has a problem other than connection, this place Toyota Tacoma / Ford Compass and Temperature Gauge Display Repair. Overhead display repair by Siliconmethod.com: Homepage says they can fix it.

Good luck.

Many have reported repairs by pulling the unit and resoldering connections...

I rarely refer to it, but it has compass and distance to empty and mpg which cycle by pushing the button..... (If I recall correctly since I rarely look at it )

There is a main fuse in the central junction box (F2.27 - 15A), but it also feeds many other things including the rear AC control module, high speed blower motor relay, back up sensors, driver side heated seat and others.

If any of those are working, then the fuse is OK.

Again, a bad connection on the module connector or as jdadamsjr suggested, resoldering components are both possible fixes.
