intake temp gage challenge

intake temp gage challenge
I have a 1990 5 liter f-150
i put a 93 5 liter engine in it
it runs very ruff , no idle, power , and when driven short distances
the cat gets red hot.
i used the 1990 wiring harness because it was compatible with the plug sequence
now the intake on the motor i put in has no place to put the intake sensor.
I am left with a dangling plug, and a sensor with no place to go.
I could use the intake from the 1990 motor. that is about 4 hours of wrenching that i would like to avoid.or can i just make a tap into the intake where it is supposed to be?
