Shorten an Excursion?

i purchased an 03 Green Eddie Baurer in Dec with the 7.3, and really love it.

My first plan is to change the front end to the '07 (I couldn't find where the newer front end would swap).

But what I really want to do is shorten it. I know this sounds rudiculous, but I prefer the shorter length of the Expedition but wanted the 7.3.

I can see a lot of difficulty in doing this, but if you can lengthen a truck, I'm sure one can be shortened,

Anyone ever heard if such a (dumb?) modification?

You'd be better off getting an Expedition and putting the 7.3 in to it. I think if you did shorten an Excursion to Expedition-length.... you might want to find somewhere to hide. What's next, taking a '65 Cobra and making it in to a sedan?

i thought about putting the 7.3 into the expedition, but I really didn't think it would fit. It seems like it would actually take more work than shortening an Excursion. The rear of the truck (suspension, axel, electronics, etc.) are a lot less and easier to do than all the issues of putting a much different engine into a vehicle not rated for the weight.

Right?

hadn't thought of doing it that way. I was thinking of shortening the cargo area, i prefer the four doors.

I saw on Autos by Tim once where they shortened one. They called it a Broncursion where it was a 2 door Excursion.

There's been a few guys that have put the 7.3 in to Bronco's, I wouldn't think that an Expedition would be that much harder.

i have both a excursion and expedition. there really is not much difference in length IMO anyhow. no reason to cut up a perfectly good truck. IMO

This whole discussion just seems blasphemous.

REVEL in your Excursion. Make the world come to you, not the other way 'round!!!

2 door excursion? Like an excursion sport with a 7.3! I'd like to see pics! Sounds interesting. Shouldn't be very hard, move the second door pillars forward to rear of the front doors and do the frame work pretty much in the same area. Fuel lines, brakes lines, driveshaft and not much else.

Sounds like a cake walk doesn't it. lol

lol, looks like a bronco with a super duty front convert. I kinda like it!

Better pic of one but you have to clicky the link, won't allow the pic to be posted, and take the space out between autos and bytim: http://www.customautos bytim.com/Two_Door_X_004.JPG
