Which problem are you referring too? Some people have had a lot of problems with the 6.0 and others have not. I don't think you can ask an open ended question like this and get a simple answer. The 6.0 was a great engine when I had one. It served me well for 120,000 miles before I traded it in.
Has Ford fixed the problems they were having with the 6.0 diesel?
I don't want this to come across as completely rude...but just the shear number of posts that pop up on this forum like this has gotten to the point that it's a shattered record. If your worried that there might be a problem with a 6.0L....don't buy it. The 6.0L is a good motor that got a bad rap up front for a couple of minor issues. And I think the 7.3L/V10 guys like to keep the rumors going. I've got 97k on my truck. It's only been in the shop for two things that were directly related to the engine (everything was "fit & finish"). One was the ICP which pretty much...like an O2 sensor in all gas burners shorts/wears out over time. The other thing was fuel injectors and that was my fault for not knowing what my fuel pressure is/was. If your not willing to spend the time/money on researching and PM for the motor...DO NOT but it. You don't treat these engines like the old IDI motors. But then these motors off the show room floor make more than twice the power of the old IDI motors.
Yeah, you set the room on fire with your opening question...but to some of us it's gotten to be a sore subject.
You also have to factor in that it is the very first post as well. Talk about a double whammy.
Any issue that I've had with my truck has been directly related to my quest of getting over 500HP, which even would have given my cummins and 7.3 trouble had I done it to them as well.
What I have seen on most of the 6.0's I haved worked on, are the people who worked on or tried to fix them, using everything from starting fluid to a [little gas in the tank] I swear! Then the owner's who think you can pull 20 thousand lbs. around.dusty job sites and continue to use off road fuel [from old job site tanks] also they push the service intervels too 20 - 30 thousand miles. And stand there and bitch at me when they have to pay 3-4 hundered dollars for a egr or inj. When in my opinion when treated like this any other engine would have been destroyed!
LMAO
In fairness, we do post a lot about problems and in my opinion, that's because we have a great bunch of folks willing to help those few with trouble.
My 07 has never seen a dealership garage. With a 112,000 miles it runs perfectly. I snapped a ScanGuage photo today. 86 ambient. 144 TFT, 192 EOT and 190 fWT. Tell me my oil cooler is plugged. Love the 6.0L

Now that I think about it.... Most, if not all, of my 'problems' (DAMN FORDS!) started occurring during a very similar quest!
All I can say, I still love the 6.0's.... and I love my personal truck as much, if not more, than the day I drove it home 8 years ago.
