I had washed the truck the other day and did not get the tires right so I decided to wash them again today. Anyway, as usual one thing led to another and I started to washed the whole truck again and got wife upset because I had promised her to go somewhere so I stopped half way...
Of course, after we got done, I could not leave it half done ... Well, after the windows were clean, I thought, hey, why not clean up the inside right? And of course, I noticed a couple of scratches that needed a little rubbing compound.... Well, you got to apply wax after compounding right? And if you gonna wax a little area, might as well wax a little more, right?
Of course, running my hand over the hood and other areas it felt like the surface of the spray on bedliner... We cant have that now, could we A little more rubbing compound would do the trick I thought, so I started on part of the hood... Fortunately the sun is going down below the trees so it must now be a cool 90 degrees now. I decide that I'm getting really tired of rubbing and wiping so I remember the clay bar... Well, the truck deserves as much love as the Corvette, right?
The clay bar did the trick without killing me. I cleaned it, wiped it, waxed and polished it.. Oh and the windows are pretty clean too And yes, my wife thinks I pay a lot more attention to my cars than to her LOL!
Jeez, I wish my big red was still showroom like that, she needs some work done(Hood, bumper, grille)
If it helps I got dash trim from an XLT and replaced that strip going across the dash =D (Mine's an XL)
Well, unless you have some serious body damage or paint damage, you can get it looking like mine with a lot of elbow grease, a hundred or so bucks worth detailing supplies, and a good orbital polisher with the right applicators. Something like the Porter-Cable 7424 XP.
Unfortunately I don't have one of those, so I gotta do things the hard way . When I bought the truck, it was already polished up very nicely. However, it sits outside under the trees , so I gotta bust my can from time to time to maintain it.

We share common women. My GF seems to think i pay more attention to trucks and working/tinkering with my truck than i do her. So, your def. not alone there!

Yeah, the birds are a problem. However, the trees are the true enemy .. Seems like all trees make horrible sap that falls on the paint and screws it up. The air pollution is bad too, particularly in Atlanta..

i know the feeling brotha...I just cleaned out my truck and not even 12 hours and its already needing to be cleaned out again...all the little small tree things and they fall in the bed...and the appartment complex has too many trees and no covered areas to park..... oh well just gives me an excuse to give TLC to the truck
