Right now this isnt really a build thread since Im mainly just driving it but there are some small things I plan to do to her until I can get another truck to the point I can depend on it daily. I guess this will end up being a thread for anything besides basic maintenance or a place I can post stuff I feel like posting.
Without going outside to check the odometer, it has 172,xxx miles on it. 300ci straight 6, E4oD, 8.8 (3.08:1 as far as I know). 235/75R15
do you have any idea how to remove the innterior door trim to put new rear view mirros in?
Without going outside & looking...... Take the window crank off. Screw in the armrest finger hole, one up under the vent window toward the front. I think there are a few more somewhere else but cant remember. Then slowly pry up the edges to get the panel off the door. Its held on with those black plastic push in retainers. Lift up to take it out the window hole. Pull door handle & work panel off. Take the plastic liner off the door if you still have it. Window will probably have to go up to get to the mirror mounts.
Looks like a good truck to me. I don't really see the point to that oil filter adapter. My friends 95 has a 300 and my previous truck was too. I would just leave the oil filter the way it is.
I don't really have anything to add to Jgoodmans comment about door panel removal. I will say that you may need some replacement plastic retainers. Also, you do have to lift up slightly on the door panel to get it off and it helps if the vent window is just slightly open.

Its about not making a mess. Turn the filter more vertical & keep it from draining when I unscrew it. I get enough of that with the Macks at work.
DId you paint or powder coat the wheels? I want to do the same to mine.
Did you use paint for the grill and bumpers,i'm going for the same look on my grill and bumpers but the body is going to
be dark gray.
All I have done to it is take the hub caps off & wash it. The front end was already black. I did find some black door handles in a catalog I would like to get but not worried about it right now.
Im looking for a 5th wheel like below & plan on having them all powder coated black.
The oil filter adapter is a very good idea because the oil filter on a 300 sits horizontal and the oil will drain out of the filter before every start-up. While it's true that using a quality filter with an anti-drainback valve on it will reduce the amount of oil that drains back, they are not oil-proof. If you let it sit for 2-3 weeks, your oil filter will be empty regardless of what brand you use. The filter relocation kit completely solves the problem.

We never really had much of a problem with making a mess. What makes a mess is the 302 and 351, oil gets all over the crossmember.
To the comment about them drianing back. I'm not sure about that either. I have changed the oil in them before after they were sitting for some time and the filter still had oil in it.

Do you think I'm making it up?
I had an 89 F-150 with a 300 and it sometimes sat for long periods when I wasn't driving it. If it sat for more than a couple weeks, it would clatter on startup for 2 seconds or so because the filter was empty. If it sat for less, no clatter.
