volare suspension

Just had the truck realigned again to get more caster for better steering, but still have the same problem of the steering wheel does not want to recenter after going around a corner. In the past couple of years i have changed to another steering box (rebuilt Shucks Auto) and still have the same prblem. When the truck is jacked up with the wheels off the ground you can barley turn the wheels back and forth. I have and old 75 dodge with the same type steerig box and when it's jacked up you can turn the wheels pretty easy.
I was thinking of going to one of the junk yards and find another used steering box to see if that would cure the problem.
Has anybody that installed the volare suspension been having this problem?
The alignment ended up with 5 degrees caster.
When I installed the suspension I put all new parts so that should not cause any problem. I have also disconected the steering box and all the parts turn easy.

I have no direct knowledge of this proceedure, but might be worth a look. I read it somewhere and wrote it down. If this was an FTE'r then I apologize for stealing it.

"Your control valve is out of alignment. On top of the box where th 2 hoses go, loosen the 2 bolts and center it. I watched my alignment guy do it with the motor running. Slightly loosened the bolts and tapped it with a plastic [?] mallet. He did it with the tires off the ground untill it no longer turned the tires. I was ready to buy a new box, but no problem after the adjustment."

This seemed kind of odd to me, but then I have had no problems with my Napa rebuilt box. I am only posting this because you have recd no replys to your problem. If it helps, great.

My local auto parts store (not part of a chain) got me all I needed for a total front suspension rebuild.

I bought all of mine at NAPA. That has been a few years ago, but I would ask them.

I was able to get everything at O'reillys except the torsion bar bushings. Got them on-line at PolyBushings.com.
