Hey guys, i own a 1993, 3.0 v6 4x4 ford ranger, and the other day i took the differential cover off of my rear end housing and determined that my gears were chewed up pretty good and anyways i ordered some 3.73- 28 spline spiders, and when my buddie was trying to installed them for me, he said they would not fit in my carrier and that they were the wrong gears. he told me that i had a govenor locker-positive traction rear end.. i looked up some info based off of my tag (which is 2367A-3L73-75-2L16) and determined that i have a 7.5 rear end. when i called randy's ring and pinion shop to order the right gears, they told me that i had previously orderd standard open gears and that i need limited slip gears.. they said that they did not have them, and im am unclue as to where i can get some??? There is also a number on my carrier that says 2307E87WAA, also my buddie keeps telling me that my carrier is not stock and that it was swapped out with another one..
I am not very mechanically inclined, and and mainly going off of what my buddie travis is telling me, can anyone enlighten me of what my situation is, or where and what kind of gears i need? any help or advice would greatly be appreciated, thanks.
The numbers on the tag indicate it is a 3.73 locker, and a 7.5" axle. Could be factory installed, as the 7.5" was the normal axle, and a locker was optional.
