Diesel in Canada?

I am making a trip to Canada (north of International Falls, MN) and want to make sure I can get ULSD. We usually top off our tank before we go over, but this trip I may be heading several hours further north as well as any other driving in between. I was told by the local store up there that they have "Low Sulphur" diesel and that it is "the lowest sulphur" grade as Canada only has one. Is their LSD the equivalent of our ULSD? I want to be 100% sure so I don't screw up my truck.

I do have a 5gal can I am going to take as well.

Steve

IIRC, Canada went to USLD before the USA. There are thousands of the 2011 6.7 powered trucks running around Canada. Availability should be no issue. Instead of taking a fuel can, you need to take a lot of money. Fuel was over $1.20 a liter.

Regards

$1.269 cdn per litre translate to close to $6 USD as our dollar is worth 1.02 now.

we have had ULSD since 2003 and the changeover was complete before 2005s were on the road.

We also put 2% polar bear urine in our diesel in Canada. That's why our trucks run better up here.

Lol. Ultra low sulfur diesel is the only diesel sold at stations in Canada since the summer of 06. It was a mandate of the government that no refineries were allowed to produce the old low sulphur diesel after May or June of that year.

Well at $6/gal (translation) maybe I should buy a few yellow 5 gal cans

I filled my can up with fresh diesel today so I at least have that kick if I need it. Who knows, maybe I can get my whole round in on my tank and make it back to the states to fill up across the boarder. I'd just like to know my options. If I need diesel it sounds like I can get it then.

You must be referring to a Cdn gallon. A US gallon is only 3.79 litres or roughly five dollars per gallon at 1.30/litre. (a Cdn gallon is 4.56 litres)

Hey KC8Qvo

You must be heading up to my part of the country..... I'm 250 miles north of International Falls.

You will have no problem with your diesel fuel.....

And it's only $1.21 per litre....which compares to 4.59 per US gallon. Our dieseel fuel is cheaper than gasoline up here.

Where about are you heading....and it must be for fishing....
