My left side dash light went out and I tried to replace it and can't seem to get to it from the bottom. Do I have to take the dash apart? Oh, 94 Ranger.

I know on mine I had to pull the instrument cluster. I think it took me about 1 hour to 1 and 1/2 hours........You might consider replacing all the bulbs.......Ido believe they cost me about $50...ouch!!!!
I had to replace the bulbs in my instrument cluster in the 95. The cluster has to come out, no other way to get to them. Since one has gone, it's best to replace them all.
A box of 10 #194 bulbs shouldn't cost more than $10 at most any parts store. That should not only cover replacing all of the dash light bulbs, but even give a few left over for things like tag lights (factory bumper) and front marker lights (not turn signal/marker combo) or even the glovebox light (if equipped).
In my cluster there were 2 size bulbs. One for the lights to light up the dash and another for all the warning lights, blinkers etc. If you find the sizes, order them online. The stores near me only sell them in packs of 2 for about $5 a pack
Yeah, the warning lights use a smaller bulb. I had to replace the airbag bulb. I just robbed the bulb from another location in the dash. They filled all the holes, even though some of them weren't needed.
Getting the "bulk" packs of bulbs requires asking at the counter, and hoping the guy you ask knows where they are. Most stores do have the bulk packs, and will even sell you a single bulb from them, but they really push the twin "bubble" packs, as they make a much higher profit margin from those.
I think the best idea is to find out the bulb #'s maybe 194? And 74? And order them online. Fyi after you put the cluster back in check all the bulbs before you put everthing else back in
Well I did it and it wasn't too hard. The hardest part for me was taking the dash trim, didn't know how so I went at it with a small pry bar and it came out. At first I thought I broke it but that is the way it comes out. The radio and the ashtray come out and the bottom plate that holds the hood latch then loosen the steering column and the dash cluster and got my hand behind the dash cluster and disconnect the speedo cable then the wire harness. About a half hour to figure it out and take it apart and about 15 minutes to put it back.
