and so it begins....
both outer fenders, gravel pan, grille and got the doors all torn down ready to remove. finished pulling them today. scraped old weatherstripping off. got all the removed parts hauled up to the blaster. he is supposed to get more walnut shells this afternoon. said he'd try to have it for friday. we still have the cab all intact and still drives to move around. my son has been working on the rear fenders(trying to just give instruction is hard for me but he needs to learn) and has them mostly done. we made our own patch panels for the frt where the running board bolts. did away with the spare tire cutout in the lt rear fender. we have our our replacement bed torn down for a while. i just recently started doing spray in bed liners in the shop. think we may do the inside of the bedsides. thinking of spraying it inside the fenders as well for rock protection. i havent looked for our frame vin # yet. it is titles to the glove box plate. says it is supposed to be goldenrod yellow with a 4spd. after tearing it down, me thinks that isn't correct at all. it was originally red and 3 on the tree. i'm still trying to decide what way to go on frt suspension. ive got a 96 exploder for our running gear donor. anyways, we're in far enuff i hope he doesn't lose interest. guess time will tell...
Sounds like you are having fun!! I'm down in Austin doing something similar with my 19 year old son on our 1950. I'll follow your progress - good luck up there! It's too hot to be welding & using a plasma torch!!
