Mileage?

Just curious as to what everyone else is getting for mileage on their truck. Between town and highway driving I average around 14 to 15mpg. I know on long trips I was getting about 17 but put in a quadzilla module for mileage and my last trip from was 19.7 mpg. My old mans truck gets about 21mpg on trips as well. Both are 6 liters naturally.

Pretty much what you are seeing. 14-16 around town/mix and if I put it on the highway for a decent stretch I've seen 19-20.5. This is all running empty other than occupants.

With 5K in tow I've seen 13.5-14.5 and with 11K in tow I've seen 10.5-11.5.

Usually I'm driving the hell out of it and see less, LOL.

Truck is stock other than a 4" MBRP cat back.

11MPG

But there are obvious reasons mine sucks, I used to get 18-20 on the open highway.

I'm averaging 19.2 right now; though I have had two tanks very recently that were above 20 mpg. The trick is to keep the RPM under 2k. Get above that and you can see the fuel gage drop.

If I hit another deer, I'm going to be looking for a bumper like the one on the front end of your truck.

That's where you have to use your enter Jedi to resist the dark side of the force. It took diesel getting up to $4.09 and nailing me for $130-$150 to fill the truck that I convinced myself that 70 mph ain't that bad after all. Around here, not many big trucks pass me (mostly the bull haulers) and most cars/SUV/trucks just slowly roll past me. So it's not like I'm holding up traffic on the interstate. The ones that bubble my paint when they streak by are usually sitting on the side of the road talking to the folks with the flashing blue lights on their rides not long after that.

I ran from about 200 miles last Friday to the NTPA grand national pulls in Tomah. I went 60 to 62 mph on the two lane and 72 to 74 mph on the interstate and got 19.7mpg. Was running about 2200 rpm's at 74mph. I run 285/75/16's for tires.

I'm getting an avg of 17.8 city/highway but I'm around 6000-6500 elevation in Colorado, not sure how the elevation effects gas mileage

Empty freeway 18.5 to 19, in town driving 13 to 15.

Towing our 37' 1/5th whl (Trk & 1/5th @ 21,000+/- lbs.) up & down the West Coast I usually get 10.5 to 13.0. Heading East thru New Mexico & Texas in the high desert areas 4,500 to 5,000 ft. & windy I get 9 - 10. Altitude & wind are mileage killers.

Here's the calc. for Horsepower loss per 1000 in elev.

hp loss = (elevation x 0.03 x hp @ sea level) divided by 1000

Which is 3.0% per 1000 ft. in elev. If you've got 400 hp @ sea level & your @ 1000 ft. you've lost 12 hp. @ 2000 24 hp, etc.

When we were at 12,100 in Colorado I lost 132.50 hp.
