IAC cleaning

I'm going to clean the throttle body on my 03 350 5.4 with some cat/o2 safe carb cleaner. Can I pull the iac and hit that as well. My manual says not to and so do some others. Some say it's fine to???? I'd rather just clean it than replace it. Wadda ya say?

I pulled mine off and cleaned it. I actually used brake parts cleaner.

Made it idle a bit smoother, but not a huge difference.

You can clean the IAC. The TB should be removed to clean properly, some of the carb on the backside can be stubborn. I uses Berrymans carb cleaner.

So I pulled the hoses off the intake and the intake off the throttle body, then removed the cover. What a PITA location those two 8mm bolts are in. The iac is jammed behind the tb almost under the dashboard. For some reason I thought it was easily accessible. I had already put on a steering stabilizer and a serpentine belt. It was also a long day at regular work and I could just see myself getting ultra frustrated so I pulled the connector to the iac and gave it 1 try. It's a job for another day. Cleaned what I could of the throttle body without pulling it and called it a day. Lol. To be continued. Lol.
