I have a 56. Has anybody used the Hush Mat? The kit is 58.1 feet from Speedway I was planing to do the cab, firewall, doors, roof, basically as much as I can do inside. How much footage did you use? Did anybody use the Kelvar roll on to get rid of the tinny sound?
Thanks
I've never used the brand Hushmat, but used the rolls of sound deadening mat sold by Mid-Fifty. Their's is 12 sq ft rolls for $38 and I used 7 for the cab of a 53 F100. This pretty much covers everything from the firewall, across the floor, up the back wall and the entire roof. I have even put pieces inside the cowl panels and doors.
It has made the difference of day and night in sound levels inside my truck.
For extra insulation I have glued Mylar bubble wrap over the mat on everything but the floor.
I am using RoadBlockR from soundproofcow.com. It has significantly knocked down the tinny sound. It cost less than hush mat. Comes in 2'x4' sheets. It has a good adhesive and is easily installed with a roller. I am also taping the seams with aluminized HVAC tape.
I haven't done it on one of these trucks yet, but used Damplifier Pro by Second Skin Audio on my Firebird. It was an amazing difference. Sound deadener is a MUST now in all my future and current projects.
