quarter panel replacement
This panel had some kind of seal/ weather stripping between it an the top piece it was mounted to ( for vibration?). do i need to put some kind of buffer to keep it from rattling or will bolting it straight on be ok? Im kinda new to body work so Im just looking for tips before i tear the dented one off my truck and replace it.
Any other tips would also be appreciated.

I believe the seal/WS you are referring to is the butyl caulk used to cushion mated surfaces that are bolted together.. vibration? Sure it works for that. I figure it also prevents squeeks, groans, and creaks.
It comes in tube but is also available in strips from 3M.. sorta likea box of licorice. IIRC, a box of is like $10 and can last forever. I also use it to fill cinch nuts on emblems and as a sealer around firewall penetrations in places where there is no grommet. It's maleable like bubble gum but isn't as sticky. NAPA, Oreilly, and Autozone all carry it... just ask for "3M strip caulk" and the knowledgeable ones will know what you are talking about.
