Thumbs down 302 1978 carburetor problem

Every morning when I first start my engine it acts like it's running on six cylinders. The colder it is the longer it takes to smooth out. The automatic choke is working fine. During the day of stop and go if you push down the gas pedal one time it will take about ten seconds on the starter before it will start. Therefore I never touch the gas pedal and she'll start on the first crank. First thing in the morning I have to push down on the gas pedal one time to set the choke and she'll start on the first crank but then run rough as stated above. Could this be a float bowl adjustment? It's been doing this since I had the carbarator overhauled. If it sets all day long at work it will do the same thing when I first start up except not as bad. What say guys??

Hi,

Yes, double check your float level. Also, it sounds as if maybe your choke is closing too much when you do your morning cold run up. I would also check it.

Good luck,
