I'm willing to venture you have probably missed a few of the notifications. I caught what I thought was my first one at 250 miles, but it has been hit or miss since then.
No doubt...just never really gave it much thought. Not sure why it is such a big deal myself.
It isn't a big deal. With the 6.7L, all you have to do is drive it.
If the truck isn't happy about something, it will let you know.
If you cancel too many active regenerations, you'll receive a static message "drive to clean exhaust filter" which means put your truck to work.
I spend too much time in town as it is (3-5 days a week) and I have never seen the drive to clean message with 17,700 miles.
For the regen in my case, I want to know what's going on; "just because."
No harm either way.

I didn't know these trucks had the "drive to clean exhaust filter" msg. Even all the regen's I've seen in the past weeks i didn't get that msg.

anyway I want exhaust filter OFF! BAD!!
Yea, I don't know how many cancelled active regen's it takes to create enough back pressure in the DPF to prompt that message under normal driving conditions.
I imagine if you were due for a regen and you floored it every chance you had and shut down during several regen's you would probably get that message within a few more stop/go trips.
Since that's a pointless idea, just keep driving as you are and you'll be fine!
I just had the "drive to clean exhaust filter" message on my way to work yesterday am. The past 2-3 weeks I've done nothing but short, city driving, stop and go trips. I've had the "cleaning exhaust filter message" a couple of times the last 2-3 weeks; probably more. I typically don't worry about the message, even if I'm just pulling onto my street at home when it comes on. I have 15,000 miles now and this is the first time I'd seen this message. I went straight to a 50-60mph speed limit road with little traffic and very few lights (Bacchus highway for those in SLC) and drove for about 20-25 minutes to make sure it finished.
Anyway, I had just had the trans flash done about 1-2 weeks ago and I was seeing the worst mpg since I've owned the truck. I'm now betting it was because it was trying regen nearly every time out because it never got a chance to finish.
So, for those that are getting "too many regens" is it really just because the process never gets a chance to complete? Or, doesn't complete every time and that's why you/we are seeing more? I think I'll put more effort in insuring it gets a chance to complete the next few times I see it and see if that reduces the regens, but also if it improves mpg.
I never got the "drive to clean exhaust filter" msg but I was doing the same thing short trips and never getting to finish a regen. My MPG is back up now...I took a short drive and let it finish. back to normal. seeing the regen msg about 150-200 miles.
I'm really really close to taking the risk and going w the Spartan program with saying bye bye to the DPF
Just make sure you're recording good data for a while before you do it. We need more than subjective seat-of-the-pants opinions of changes in performance and mileage.
Not buying that! I drive all day long almost everyday. Get cleaning exhaust almost daily
Sence reflash! MPG sucks seen as low as 12.9 but mostly around 15.5
18+ before flash
Trans still not right herky jerky at low RPM
Does not have the low end power it used to have
Used to be able to break tires lose not anymore
Ford came out and hooked laptop to it and said will get back with me

I wasn't selling anything....just posting what I experienced earlier this week. Sure sounds like something went wrong with your flash....
So much for good fuel millage. 20+ is great but when you factor in the regen at 12, it sucks. I don't drive much, but it seems that every time I go out in it, it's on a regen cycle. I get pissed, so I do my own version of regen. ( cycle the key ) Fixes the problem and back to good millage. The warrenty will take care of any problems I should encure. After that I can do a total exaust and chip refit. They should have some good ones out by then.
Earlier this week I drove 1180 miles round trip without a trailer or passengers. First time since I have owned the truck that I drove it that far with no load.
I learned that the regen process happens a lot more than I expected, seemed like once every 200 miles in general. My mileage stayed between 17 and 19, fluctuating up and down with the regens. I drove interstate 85, 20, and hwy278 from Birmingham up to Memphis. I cruised at 75 in a 70 zone, 65 in a 60 zone, and 55 in construction zones. Hand calculating mileage, within .2 mpg of the truck computer.
Funny thing is, like it has been said, normally I have a trailer in tow and I normally go several hundred miles (800) between regen cycles, so I was surprised. I was also shocked that I could fill up the fuel tank in Heflin, AL and make it all the way home.
Any who, these regens are going to happen and really should be ignored. I would like to see how the Edge CTS insight thingy pans out because you can at least tell what's going on.
Kper, does the average miles between regen work on yours yet? If you don't mind, send me a pm telling me what all works and what does not, unless you think others here would like to know. Thanks.
