OLD DECODES

Bill, the owner used to be partners with Harold Looney, who owned several Ford Parts Obsolete stores, the last one in Stanton.
Looney (who wasn't crazy!), purchased all the used and NOS parts (excepting Shelby/Mustang), when Valley Ford Obsolete in North Hollywood sold out.

I'm looking at buying a 1979 Ford dump truck, all I have is VIN F82BVDC5899, door plate is missing. Present owner thinks carb needs adjusting or rebuilt, so I'm trying to figure out what engine and if possible what the GVW might have been.

B = 300 1V I-6 or 370 4V V8.
V = Kentucky Truck Assembly Plant.
DC5899 = 1979.
Warranty Plate riveted to the left door face below the latch // Certification Label glued to the B pillar (door post) below the striker plate.
Both have the GVWR listed.

Its a round 75 gallon tank. If any other info is needed regarding the tank - please let me know.
And of course IF you can find one that is availiable.
Thanks so much.

Bill
Thanks for the reply
There does not appear to be any info on the top of the sending unit. Perhaps the unit has to be removed and the info is on the bottom side in the tank?
Would the information on the metal tag riveted onto the tank be of any assitance to you?
Thanks,John

If it's the ID number for the tank on that metal tag, that'll be a big help.
